Just another Edublogs.org weblog
pod-cast.mp3 We are creating an audio about reading to children.
We would like to create a list for procedure used in schools when a tornado warning is heard. If you know about tornadoes or are in an area that this is a real threat and have information about the precedure, could you reply so that we may discuss this issue in our Vocational Early Education Class in Massachusetts.
Recently I assigned a project about safety in the child care environment. One of the areas that was mentioned in our text book was for evacuation because of extreme weather. The week before a tornado had cause major damage in the Mid West. We tried obtaining information on the internet but were unable to formulate a step by step evacuation play with the information . I could see using the Edublog to contact educators in another part of the country to help with this specific task.
Because children are very visual, bulletin boards are an essential teaching tool in the Child Care Laboratory. When creating display for the class, the high school students have to be reminded that “It is the process not the product” that is essential for an activity. The high school students want to fix anything out of proportion or not perfect which is not how the children display their uniqueness. Many times a child had mixed colors to make grey pumpkins, hearts or entire pages. If we do not display their work we are essentially saying that what they have created is not good enough. To a small child that is very deflating.
One of the best ways to create bulletin boards in the Child Care center is to have the children create the backgound. They are very creative and when we display their work they are very proud of their accomplishments.
